How Lottoland is preparing a Swedish invasion
It’s been a long-time coming, but the Swedish gaming market was finally “re-regulated” for the start of 2019, with dozens of operators looking to pick up licences and start to really penetrate this exciting market.
Lottoland was right at the front of the queue and became one of the first operators to be awarded an iGaming and betting licence from the Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen), meaning the site can offer its full range of lottery betting and casino products to its Swedish users.
Of course, Lottoland has made huge strides in the lottery world since its launch back in 2013, with the site now boasting more than 9 million players internationally.
The operator even picked up a Guinness World Record last year after giving away the “Largest Online Gambling Pay Out Ever” after a cleaner in Berlin won €90m when betting on EuroJackpot on the site. The story was made even more remarkable considering that it was just the winner’s second bet on Lottoland and she immediately quit her job upon hearing the news.
The Swedish gambling market was estimated to be worth SEK23.4 billion (€2.24 billion) in 2018, but with the market now opening up to newly-licensed international operators, this is expected to sky-rocket in 2019 and beyond.
Indeed, the Swedish market is a highly interesting prospect for gaming operators like Lottoland. Sweden is an economically-thriving and technologically-advanced nation of around 10 million people – making it the perfect prospect for online operators.
The challenge for the likes of Lottoland is standing out in a new market that has become inundated with new operators almost overnight. The company has even appointed a new Head of Marketing for Sweden in order to help implement their new acquisition strategy so that they can continue to lead the lottery market.
Unsurprisingly, Lottoland’s Affiliate team will be central to their strategy for getting new players, fresh off the back of the program winning the ‘Best Lottery Affiliate Program’ for a second year running at the iGB Affiliate Awards in London on 8th February 2019.
Lottoland is well-known for the quality of its Affiliate program in marketing circles, with an excellent team in place, while the site offers up to a 35% share on net revenue to affiliate partners – one of the most generous affiliate deals in the business.
With the company actively looking to find new affiliate partners to help target the Swedish market, the Lottoland Affiliate team will be making an appearance at the Nordic Affiliate Conference at The Grand Hôtel in Stockholm on 27th and 28th March 2019.
Affiliates are invited to come and chat with the Lottoland team at the 2019 conference about the opportunities that lie ahead, while the team will also be happy to answer any questions about partnering with Lottoland.
